Cannabis milk is one of the easiest and beginner-friendly infusions out there. It is ridiculously simple to make and you will only need two ingredients: cannabis and milk. And if you don’t want to just drink the delicious weed milk, you can use it with any recipe that you would normally use milk in. Personally, I keep a jug of infused milk in the fridge at all times and use it instead of normal milk. A bit of canna-milk in my morning coffee really gives it a nice flavour and is a great way to start the day. The possibilities for using the marijuana-milk are endless!
Here are a few easy recipes that you can use your cannabis infused milk in:
- cannabis infused hot chocolate
- canna-porridge
- weed milkshakes
- cannabis infused sauces and soups
- creamy cannabis infused scrambled eggs
- delicious weed ice cream
What type of milk should i use to make weed milk?
The best type of milk to use is full fat milk. Cannabinoids require fat to properly infuse into and if you use a low fat or fat free milk, you will most likely notice a weaker end product. Coconut milk and other non-dairy milks also work great with this recipe. I would also recommend adding a small amount of lecithin powder (optional) to aid absorption and potency, especially if you are using a low fat milk.
How much weed should i use?
This entirely depends on your personal preference, tolerance, and quality of the herb you are using. We recommend 1-3.5 grams of cannabis buds per 500ml of milk however you can add more or less depending on your preference and tolerance. The flavours and aroma of your herb will also infuse into the milk so use a strain that you think would work well. Fruity strains work great! You can use leaf and trim instead of buds however you will get a superior flavour and potency if you use buds.
The medicinal effects of the strain you use will also transfer into your canna-milk. Using a sativa strain will give your canna-milk an energetic, creativity boosting effect while an indica strain will give your milk a stoney couch-lock effect. For the best of both worlds, use a hybrid strain.
Quick & Easy Cannabis Infused Milk (Homemade Marijuana Milk)
Ingredients
- 7 Grams Cannabis Buds (or leaves/trim)
- 1 Litre Milk (full fat preferably)
Instructions
- Decarboxylate your cannabis to maximize the potency of this recipe. Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C). Coarsely grind your cannabis and spread it into an even layer on a baking tray or dish. Cover with foil then put into the preheated oven for 25-40 minutes. Take out of oven and allow to cool down.
- Pour your milk into a pot and bring it to a boil then let simmer. Use a low heat or double boiler to ensure your milk does not burn.
- Add your decarboxylated cannabis to the simmering milk and stir continuously until it is all fully submerged in the milk.
- Let the canna-milk simmer for 45-60 minutes. Do not allow to boil. Stir the mixture every 10-15 minutes. Your milk will turn a slightly off-white, greenish-yellow colour depending on the age, strain, dryness, and quality of the cannabis you used.
- Take the canna-milk mixture off the heat and prepare your straining device (sieve, cheese cloth, coffee filter) as well as a bottle or container to pour the strained weed milk into.
- Pour the milk through your straining device to separate and remove the cannabis debris from the milk. Try to squeeze out every last drop of special milk from the herbs left in the strainer or filter so none of it goes to waste.
- Allow the strained milk to cool before drinking or storing in the fridge. Drink it either cold or warm, or use it as an ingredient in an infused recipe.

Will weed milk get me high?
If you used cannabis which contains THC, yes. But if you used CBD hemp flowers with no THC, then no. The potency of your weed milk also depends on the quality and quantity of cannabis used. If you did not infuse much cannabis into it, it may be a very subtle high that is barely noticeable. If you want to make your weed infused milk stronger, consider using a higher quality/quantity of cannabis or a concentrate like hash oil instead.
The “high” from cannabis comes from the THC in it so if you do not want your weed milk to get you high, do not use any THC containing products.
A very easy to follow recipe and can pack quite a kick when made with good quality herb. Sativa weed milk in coffee is my favourite! Don’t forget to decarb first, and if you have some lecithin, add a teaspoon of it to this recipe to help with bio-availability and absorption.
Works with hashish and kief too. This infused milk is the best way to make weed hot chocolate in my opinion
I used my left over weed pulp from making canna coconut oil and I am very surprised with how well it turned out!! Add a bit of demerara sugar and it’s delicious to drink as it is
I added a little bit of whole cream to this recipe to increase the fat content and make it a bit more creamy. Going to try making ice cream with it 🙂
Omg!!! How did this work?! I’m literally starting a premium cannabis hard pack ice cream company out of my home. This would be super helpful. I purchased thousands of dollars of equipment for this, so any info or recommendations would help!! I’d be happy to provide you my email!
I will be trying this with my left over cannabutter pulp next time. i usually throw it away..

i made some very strong milk following this recipe! thx
I made this with almond milk, sunflower lecithin, and 3g of lemon haze buds. Completely blown away by the citrus flavour my weed added to the milk!! I will be trying this again with another fruity strain favourite of mine – pineapple haze, and this time with coconut milk
infused a half ounce block of soft moroccan hashish into 2L of full fat milk an it came out amazing. really nice floral flavour and scent from the hash was transferred into the milk.
Lovely thanks
Good recipe👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Try with muesli….
made this with a load of purple kush trim and it gave my coconut milk a lovely earthy nutty flavour. very nice
2.5g of AVB into 300ml whole milk and drank it with my breakfast. No need to decarb cuz vaped bud is already decarbed. It’s 2pm now and I’m still absolutely mashed! Bit too strong but bangin recipe 😂
what is the best type of lecithin to use for this recipe? can i use soy lecithin powder?
Yes you can use soy lecithin powder. I personally use liquid sunflower lecithin but have also used soy lecithin powder in the past
Do you think this would work with lactose free full fat milk? Thought I would double check before attempting it and possibly wasting it 😁
Yes it would work with full fat lactose free milk 🙂 I would also recommend adding some lecithin if you have any
Really simple to make and weed milk is perfect for bed time medicated hot chocolates 🙂
What is the best non dairy milk to use?
I would definitely say coconut milk. Tastes incredible too!
I am going to try using this canna milk next time I make the cheese sauce for cauliflower cheese. I’m not sure what strain/terps would go well with that though….. I’m thinking something lemony
The thought of that is making my mouth water! Let us know how it goes!
Boil the milk for a long time until it thickens a bit then that cream you are left with is awesome to make weed infused ice cream
Is there any way I can make weed infused chocolate milk by adding cocoa powder or melted chocolate to this recipe?
Absolutely! Add some cocoa powder and a sweetener to the milk and mix well. You can also use chocolate syrup.
thumbs up from me! im glad i tried this recipe
Can I add water to the milk if it becomes too thick when cooking?
You can yes. Give it a good mix after adding in the water. The thickening is normal and you can thin it out again by simply adding a bit of water.
what is the best way to use hashish to make this? can i put the hash brick in the milk or i need to cut it into peices first
I cooked the milk for a bit too long and it went thicker like a cream. Is it still ok?
Canna milk makes great porridge!
Tastes… unique? (I used an earthy kushy strain, maybe should hVe used something fruity instead..) Add a bit of sugar and it’s quite nice though!
i put the left over weed pulp i got from making butter into a pan with a bit of full fat milk and stirred it around on a low heat for 5 min then i poured it through a strainer to remove pulp and into a glass. there was a bit of an oil slick on top of the milk from the cannabutter pulp but other than that it was good. let me just say it hit me very hard!! makes me sad i have thrown away so much left over pulp in the past, what a waste
I used a bunch of AVB (already vaped bud) to make this cannamilk and it gave the milk a really nice roasted kind of flavor, its hard to explain but I love it!
