Vodka is a great alcohol to infuse with weed due to its high alcohol content. The high alcohol content helps draw out and extract those lovely cannabinoids and terpenes from your weed, into your vodka. Weed vodka is very easy to make and it’s a great novelty drink to have on special occasions or used in cocktails.

What can I do with weed infused vodka?
Weed vodka can be drank straight as it is, used in cannabis infused cocktails, or even in boozy deserts. Here are some recipes that you can use it in:
- Cannabis Infused Appletini
- Weed Infused Vodka Gummy Bear Ice Lollies
- Cannabis Infused Vodka Lemon Cupcakes
Can I add flavour to the cannabis vodka?
Yes! You can add spices like cinnamon, or fruits to flavour your vodka. Sweet citrus fruits go very nicely infused into vodka.
Try infusing these fruits into your vodka for a refreshing blast of flavour:
- Raspberry
- Cherry
- Orange
- Lemon
- Lime
- Strawberry
How much weed should I use?
We recommend using about 7 grams of cannabis per 500ML of vodka however you can add more or less depending on your desired potency. Using more cannabis will result in a more potent and flavourful cannabis vodka.
Should I decarboxylate my weed before infusing?
You need to decarboxylate your cannabis before infusing it into the vodka if you want it to have the psychoactive effects you expect from THC. If you just want the flavour and aroma profile from the weed, you do not need to decarb.
Decarboxylation is the process of activating the THC & CBD in your cannabis using heat. Check out our easy to follow guide on how to decarb weed at home using an oven.
Weed Infused Vodka
Ingredients
- 250ml vodka
- 1 – 3.5g cannabis (can be dried or fresh)
Instructions
- Decarboxylate your cannabis to activate the THC in it. This step is essential if you want your vodka to produce psychoactive effects. To decarboxylate: place your cannabis in an oven safe dish or tray with a lid. If no lid, tightly cover with foil instead. Place in preheated oven at 240F/115C for 35 minutes then let it cool down with the lid on.
- Chop up or grind your decarboxylated cannabis then add it straight into your vodka bottle. Glass jars can also be used instead of a bottle if infusing small amounts.
- Leave the vodka with the cannabis in it to infuse for up to 7-14 days. Shake the bottle/jar twice a day to help with the infusion. If you are in a rush, you can do a quick infusion by heating the vodka/cannabis mixture on a low heat for 2-3 hours instead. Make sure the temperature of the vodka does not go above 60C to avoid evaporating the alcohol. The longer you allow the mixture to infuse, the more concentrated it will be.
- Once infused, remove the cannabis from your vodka using a coffee filter, cheese cloth, or strainer. If you did a quick infusion using heat, allow the infused vodka to cool down before putting it into a bottle. Your weed infused vodka is now ready to use!
Notes
- On the day that you are ready to remove the cannabis from the vodka, boil a large pot of water big enough to submerge the majority of the bottle (do not submerge the top). Take it off the heat as soon as the water is boiled then place the sealed bottle into the hot (not boiling) water for 30-45 minutes. The heat can help release all the good stuff from the weed and give your infused vodka a stronger psychoactive effect.

What should weed vodka look like when it’s finished infusing?
Depending on how long you infused your cannabis vodka for, it probably isn’t a clear liquid anymore like when you started. The colour of your end product depends on how long you infused for, the quantity and type of cannabis used, if you decarboxylated your weed, and even the strain of weed you used. The colour of your vodka does not indicate how strong it is so always start with a low dose when testing out the potency.
Your cannabis vodka can come out slightly yellowish, golden, greenish, brownish. For a clearer colour, do not grind your cannabis too fine before infusing, and double filter out the cannabis material at the end.
i’m making a small tester batch to try out. 7 day infusion in a glass jar. very excited to try it, only few days left to wait . . .
How do I make weed vodka with distillate?
Can you use pollen hash for making hash vodka? I havr 14 grams of hash that I want to infuse in the vodka. How can do it?
taste weedy and get you stoned๐๐ผ i try with rum next
Where do u put the liquor at to sit for the few days?
Do u just drop the tea bag filled with cannabis in the vodka n let it sink to the bottom?
I put it in a mason jar, and then pour it back into the original bottle at the end of the infusion process.
I let it soak for 2 weeks and it came out great. Very nice with sprite
the vodka changed color slightly to brownish but it very strong..! I only infuse it for 10 day before testing
Good stuff
Tastes like drinking weed but the effects are very strong๐ remember to wait at least 30 mins for the THC to kick in before deciding on having another dose!
Got some brewing for a special treat on New Yearsโฆ excited!
wow i make with hasjish and strong stoned effect after 30 minute. infuse for 1 month
Can anyone give me an idea of how potent 7 g dehydrated herb mixed in 500 ml of vodka infused in a magic butter machine for 4 to 6 hrs would be? Is 1 shot glass recommeded per drink? I am not sure what to expect.
I’ve made a 500ml batch with 7 grams of high grade flower which was infusing for about a month before i sampled it. 2 Shots got me feeling really good about an hour in.
I would suggest starting with a half shot or smaller (and not during a party) to find out how strong the infusion is before you actually plan on using it. Set some time to do a potency test before you actually plan on using it
Please keep in mind that if you do not have a cannabis tolerance, it can hit super strong so be wary!
2 shots your a soldier!!! I made my batch w/1oz and 750ml. Took about half a shot with 8oz lemonade and I was on the MOON!!
All is good
Excellent and so easy to follow!! Thank you!!
I infused two separate bottles. One with just the cannabis, and one with fresh mango slices and cannabis. The one with the mango slices was a winner! Delicious!!
Hi Niviav! Thank you for your comments ๐
I have also made a batch with fresh mango slices and it was hands down one of my favourites!
Have you tried any other fruits yet?
Hi, with this recipe, how much of the resulting vodka would be suitable to consume for a decent ( but not excessive) high?
Also I wonder if, by doubling the weed content, I could then simply take less of the resulting vodka… My aim is to produce something strong enough to only require a drop or two under the tongue, because the consumption of alcohol, per se, is not of interest to me.
Hi Poppy, have you checked out our cannabis alcohol tincture recipe? Based on your comment i think a tincture is what you are looking for.
I have a friend who had trouble obtaining high alcohol % grain alcohol (everclear) to make a tincture with so he processed the vodka to make it 70%+ alcohol and used that instead and he had good results.
With a tincture you only need a drop or two under your tongue.
